Escape the Studio
An interactive, escape-room type point and click game that is played in tandem with the app Blippar.
"You are a new hire at a successful music studio under Prod. YP. You have quickly gained a reputation in the company as a young prodigy and have created several hits since starting here. Upon hearing a rumor that the boss, Prod. YP, steals his employees' work and takes credit for it, including your own, you decide to investigate his studio computer and find out for yourself when he is on break. After finding evidence that he does indeed steal others' work, you try to sneak back out but find that the door is locked and protected by five passwords. Look around the room for any clues to the passwords to escape before the boss comes back and finds you in his studio."
Utilizing the app Blippar, the player solves the puzzle to gain the passwords needed to escape, winning the game.
The game was developed first by thinking of a theme and story, of which is themed around the band BTS since I am a fan. After that was decided, gathering assets (finding a location—a music studio, and cutting out the assets needed in Photoshop—the monitors and other interactive areas in the room, background music, and filler images) and putting it all together was next. The game was done through HTML, CSS, and Java-script, allowing for textboxes to pop up, a text-submission form for the passwords, and clickable buttons.
The final version is currently located on itch.io. Due to working on different monitor sizes at the time of production the size of the program uploaded onto itch is a bit over-sized, but still playable, with all original functions and features working.
